Appearance: Shuyin stands at 5'11 with shoulder length blonde hair that looks as if he has just come out of a pool. His build is athletic, toned and muscled but not rippling. His face is handsome, yet almost always marred by a dark frown. His cold blue eyes stand out amidst his blonde hair, usually calm, but sometimes showing a stormy array of emotions. His outfit consists of a blue and yellow hip length jacket sporting a red inside linging, short, black and red checkered sleeves, black fingerless gloves that folds into a blue wrist guard and then into a red arm guard that extends nearly to his elbows. His blue shorts sport a harness and extend to his knees, and his yellow and black shoes are low cut and secured with straps.

Personality: In life Shuyin's bright, sunny disposition made him the center of attention. Up beat and optimistic, nothing could keep Shuyin down for very long. Being an athlete gave him a drive, a desire to win, to compete, and to always be the best. Always one to act first, and later think about it, Shuyins energetic attitude often got those around him into trouble. His attitude changed only slightly once he met his love Lenne. From then on, her safety became his top priority, over anything and anyone else. He became even more rash, rushing blindly from problem to problem in his efforts to keep Lenne safe. In death, Shuyin's anger and hatred for his lovers murderers consumed him. As a spirit he longed for nothing more then vengence, and would stop at nothing to get it. Now, once more returned to life after so long in the spirit world, Shuyin's human side often conflicts with his spirit side. Anger, joy, hatred, and happiness all swirl within the young man, causing many internal coflicts and emotions to make Shuyin often confused. Shuyins bright, sunny side always tries to win through his often harsh, almost caustic pessimism.

Abilities/Weaponry: Shuyins sword is a simple long sword, made of a blue type of metal roughly three and a half feet in length with a curved end. Having spent much time with this blade, both as Lennes guardian and later as a spirit, he has become a master of it. Being a blitzball player of amazing skill has gifted Shuyin with amazing strength, agility, and stamina, allowing him to perform high speed feats of blinding skill with ease and grace. His training as a guardian have taught him a few minor spells, specfically those of haste and slow. From his close association with Lenne, he has learned the spell of cura as well. His years of being a spirit have also endowed him with the ability to hear their voices, an often confusing and unexpected event for Shuyin.

Weaknesses: Shuyin's confidence borders on arrogant, so much so that his manuevers are often dangerous, for both his foes and himself. His speed oft times works against him, causing him to over shoot his marks, or miss altogether when an opponent manages to dodge, leaving Shuyin very off balance. Years upon years as a spirit saw Shuyin calling upon a different array of senses to survive on, forcing the now reborn Shuyin to re-learn the fundamentals of being human. Single minded determination often leaves him blind to the reprecussions of his decision. Sudden floods of voices from spirits often leave him drained and confused, unable to defend himself.

History: Shuyin was born into a world visited by Sin. Raised to be a blitzball player, he quickly rose through to stardom. His fame made him some what arrogant, until the day he met Lenne. The songstress of Zanarkand managed to soothe much of the unrest in Shuyins heart, and the two quickly fell in love. But nothing remains perfect, and war soon visited itself upon Zanarkand. For reasons lost to time, the neighboring city of Bevelle began an invasion of Zanarkand. Lenne became a summoner, and Shuyin her guardian. But wild and rash Shuyin refused to let Lenne fight on the front lines, and sought a swift, decisive end to the war.

His solution was to use a weapon that Bevelle had devolped to combat Sin, but had never been put into use. The Veganagun. He would use its power to put a stop to Bevelle, to all of Bevelle, and save his beloved. But before he could complete his plan, Lenne found him, and beeseched him to stop, to consider all the innocent life that would be lost. Shuyin came to his senses, and deactivated the super weapon. Once again in the arms of his love, the two of them were allowed only a moment before the troops of Bevelle caught up to them. There, in front of Vegnagun, the couple were gunned down. Lenne passed on peacefully, but the spirit of Shuyin would not rest.

Over the next several hundred years his restless spirit became angrier, and angrier, more engrossed with revenge against the world that had taken his Lenne from him. He got his chance when one day, Nooj, Baralai, and Gippal stumbled onto the cave where his spirit resided. As the three defended themselves against the terrors of the cave, Shuyin seized his chance and possesed an unwary Nooj. Through a whirlwind of events, Shuyins spirit began to enact his plan to once again use the Vegnagun, this time for revenge, later possessing Baralai. It was during this time that he met with Yuna, a young former summoner turned sphere hunter whose garmet possesed the spirit of his lost love, Lenne.

Mistaking Yuna for Lenne, Shuyin sought to remind his love of who she was and who he was. In the battles that followed, Yuna and her friends Paine and Rikku, two of the trio of friens Gippal and Nooj, and the unlikely Leblanc gang managed to defeat the Vegnagun, rescuing Baralai and putting a stop to Shuyins plot for vengence. It was then, as Shuyin stood on the brink of defeat, that the spirit of his love returned to him. "Hi there." And so the two were reunited at last, and their spirits thought to return to peaceful slumber.
